The Sunken Village

In Kerala, beneath the surface of a lake shrouded in mystery, lies a lost village. Long ago, it thrived—until one fateful night when floodwaters swallowed it whole. Fishermen whisper that on stormy nights, bells ring from the depths, and shadowy figures rise, seeking answers no living soul can provide.

Arjun, a marine researcher, arrives with his team, eager to document its history. As their boat glides over the water, the atmosphere grows heavy. Suddenly, something moves beneath the surface. A whisper—his name. Arjun freezes, his pulse quickening.

Shadows flicker. The whispers grow stronger, their voices merging in haunting unison. A force compels Arjun forward, his mind drowning in strange echoes. Before anyone can stop him, he plunges into the water.

Below, he finds remnants of houses, frozen in time. Temple bells swing gently, though no wind stirs them. As a deep chill grips his chest, he realizes—these souls have been waiting. Guided by instinct, he retrieves a half-buried relic, a statue of the deity once worshiped by the villagers. He swims upward, breathless.

Consulting local priests, they conduct a ritual at the water’s edge, honoring the lives lost. That night, the bells fall silent, the storm retreats,
and the lake becomes just a lake again.
